Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of skimmed. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use skimmed. Questions: support@tryskimmed.com.

What skimmed does

You upload a reading and we generate a narrated whiteboard video from it. The videos are produced automatically by AI models.

Accuracy

We work hard on accuracy — every video is checked before you see it — but AI-generated explanations can still be wrong. skimmed is a study aid, not a substitute for your course material. Don't rely on it as your only source for graded work, and check anything that matters against the original reading.

Your account

You need an account to generate videos. Keep your email secure; anyone with access to it can sign in as you. One account per person. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

What you upload

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us permission to process it for the sole purpose of producing your video. By uploading, you confirm you have the right to do so.

Please don't upload:

• Material you have no right to share
• Anything unlawful, or anything containing other people's personal data
• Content that would breach your institution's academic integrity rules

Academic integrity

You are responsible for following your institution's rules. Using skimmed to complete assessed work may breach them. That's your call and your responsibility, not ours.

Plans and payment

Free accounts include two videos in total, plus one more for each friend who signs up with your referral link. Skimmed Pro is $6.99 per month and includes 20 videos per month. The Finals Pass is $14.99 for 25 videos over 30 days, and does not renew.

Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; cancel any time from your account page and you'll keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Unused videos don't roll over.

Refunds

If something goes wrong or the service isn't what you expected, email support@tryskimmed.com within 14 days and we'll sort out a refund. Nothing here affects statutory rights you may have.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no automated scraping, no reselling videos, no attempts to break or overload the system, no sharing an account.

Availability

skimmed is provided as-is. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or discontinue features, and we'll give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for academic outcomes, indirect losses, or lost data.

Ending your account

You can stop using skimmed at any time; email us to delete your account. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

Changes

If we change these terms we'll update the date above and, for material changes, tell account holders by email.
