Privacy Policy

This explains what skimmed collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions or requests: support@tryskimmed.com.

What we collect

• Your email address, so you can sign in and so we can contact you about your account.
• Documents you upload, and the text extracted from them, in order to produce your video.
• Account data: your plan, how many videos you've used, your referral code, and who referred you.
• Generation records: the time, duration and processing cost of each video, so we can run the service.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

How your uploads are used

The text of your upload is sent to our AI providers — Anthropic, for generating the video, and OpenAI, for the narration voice — purely to produce your video. We don't use your uploads to train models, and our providers process them under their API terms, which likewise exclude training on API data.

Generated videos are cached against a fingerprint of the file so that uploading the same document again is instant and doesn't count against your allowance. If you'd rather your document wasn't cached, email us.

Who else processes your data

• Supabase — accounts, sign-in, and the database
• Stripe — payments, as merchant of record. We never see your card details.
• Anthropic — generating scenes and narration
• OpenAI — converting narration to speech

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is open. Uploads and generated videos are kept so you can rewatch them. Ask us to delete your account and we'll remove your personal data and your videos within 30 days, except anything we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@tryskimmed.com and we'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator.

Cookies

We set cookies that keep you signed in. That's it — no advertising or analytics cookies.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access is limited to what's needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll tell affected users promptly if a breach occurs.

Children

skimmed is intended for university students and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update the date above and tell account holders by email about anything material.
